How to sign up for OKX: 7 steps, referral code FAIRR
Short answer
Sign up with your email on okx.com and enter referral code FAIRR in the [Referral code (optional)] box to get 20% of your trading fees back on every trade. You can't add it later. Then turn on two-factor authentication and verify your ID, and you can buy crypto with your local currency.

Before you start
- An email address you use regularly, with a password you don’t use anywhere else.
- A phone number that can receive text messages, in case you’re asked to verify one.
- Your own ID: a passport or national ID card, depending on what the exchange accepts in your country. It must not be expired.
- An authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, for two-factor authentication.
Make sure you’re on the official site
The official site is okx.com. Search ads at the top of the results and links posted in group chats can lead to copycat sites with an address that’s one or two letters off.

Open the sign-up page with the referral link
Tap the sign-up button on this page and the [Referral code (optional)] box is filled in for you. If it isn’t, type in FAIRR.
Finish signing up on that page before you download the app. If you download the app first and sign up there, the code may not be linked. This is your only chance: OKX doesn’t let you add or change a code after sign-up.
Enter and verify your email
Enter your email and follow the prompts to type in the code sent to it. If you’re asked to add a phone number, enter the code sent by text.
When you set a password, use at least 12 characters, mixing letters, numbers and symbols. Only enter verification codes on the official site: exchange staff will never call or message you to ask for one.
Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA)
In your account’s security settings, turn on 2FA with your authenticator app: scan the QR code, then enter the 6-digit code.
Verify your identity (KYC)
In the app, tap [Menu] → [Account settings] → [Profile] → [Identity verification], then follow the prompts to photograph your ID and do the face check. It’s usually reviewed within 24 hours.

Deposit with your local currency
You can deposit local currency via P2P or debit/credit card.
Try a small amount first. If you buy through P2P, only place the order and confirm payment inside the platform. Never pay the other person outside it.
Make your first spot trade
Buy a small amount of BTC or USDT on the buy crypto or spot trading page, then check it has arrived in your assets. Don’t touch futures or margin: you can lose everything within minutes.

I forgot to enter the referral code. Can I add it now?
No. OKX doesn't let you add or change a code after sign-up. Don't close your account and sign up again, or open a second one. You can sign up for Binance instead.
How long does the identity check take?
Usually within 24 hours. Use your original ID, not a screenshot or a scan, and make sure it hasn't expired. Photos need to be sharp, with nothing cropped or covered. If it fails, fix what the page or the email says and submit again.
I already downloaded the app. Can I still enter the referral code?
Yes, if you haven't signed up yet. The safest way is to tap the sign-up button on this page and finish on the page it opens. If you sign up in the app, type FAIRR into [Referral code (optional)] and check it's there before you tap [Sign up].
