What can my referrer see after I use their referral code?

Short answer

The data the referral program shows them. Binance says Super Rebate members can see your UID, sign-up date, verification status, first deposit, first trade, commission and trading volume. OKX says affiliates can look up trade history by UID and commission details. Never give anyone your password or verification codes.

Using a referral code safely

  1. Sign up and log in only on the official site or app; the referral code goes in the referral code box on the sign-up page

  2. Never send your password, verification codes or private keys to anyone, including people who say they're your referrer or support

  3. To check whether a code is linked, your UID (a string of numbers) is all that's needed, for example sent to @FairRebateBot

  4. See your own fee discount in the exchange itself: Share Commissions on Binance's referral page, My rewards in the OKX app

FAQ

Can my referrer touch my money?

What both exchanges describe is data the referrer can see. Never give anyone your password or verification codes; anyone who asks for them is a scammer.

Will my referrer contact me?

Binance says Super Rebate members can send invitees a reminder through Binance, once every 72 hours, to complete verification, a first deposit and a first trade. Whether you act on it is up to you.

Why does your bot ask for my UID?

To check whether the code is linked. Send only the UID, a string of numbers. Never send passwords, verification codes or screenshots.

Someone says they're my referrer and wants to help manage my account. Should I trust them?

No. A real referrer never needs your password or verification codes. Anyone asking for them is a scammer.

I don't want my referrer to see this. Can I unlink?

No. Binance says a referral link can't be changed or removed once set, and on OKX the code can't be changed after the account is created. So decide whose code to use before you sign up.
